Viva Vivaldi!

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Viva Vivaldi! Red Priest fans will savor Salvatore Accardo’s performance of “Il favorito,” and enjoy the echo effect in the Concerto in A, just an echo later...

Violinist Mela Tenenbaum is joined by Alexander Tenenbaum on the violin “in eco” when they play the Concerto in A, RV 552, along with the Philharmonia Virtuosi under Richard Kapp.

Clarinet and bassoon sound forth in Richard Strauss’s “Duet-concertino” during our second hour, when Harold Wright and Sherman Wait on the instruments in question are joined by the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa.

Three concertos are in the offing: Mstislav Rostropovich in Haydn Cello Concerto in C; Frank Peter Zimmermann as soloist in Sibelius’s Violin Concerto; and Dinu Lipatti at the piano in the Grieg Piano Concerto.
