Foaming, Roaring, Raging Sea of Sound

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
“What are [the public] to say to the elemental music; this foaming, roaring, raging sea of sound, to these dancing stars; these breath-catching, iridescent, flashing breakers?” –Gustav Mahler, re his Symphony No. 5

During our 9:00 o’clock hour, we hear Daniel Barenboim leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in an incandescent reading of Mahler’s Fifth. You can enjoy them perform this very work live at Carnegie Hall on November 5th.

Our first hour will spotlight the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York, a group dedicated to providing exceptionally gifted musicians an opportunity to perform chamber music.

Also on this evening’s agenda: Sergio and Odair Assad performing the “Tango Suite” by Astor Piazzolla, and Andras Schiff’s interpretation of Haydn’s Piano Sonata No. 53 in E Minor.
