Exotic Castles in Spain

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Guitarist David Russell plays the entire “Castillos de Espana” by Federico Moreno Torroba this evening, bringing us musical pictures of 14 exotic castles in Spain.

New York Festival of Song will be featured throughout the evening, as our spotlight guest. You’ll hear about the group’s philosophy and activities, and hear some of their music as well.

Leon Fleisher plays the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell, from a 1962 recording made before the tragic loss of his right hand’s facility (from which he has recently made a well-publicised recovery).

From a very recent Hyperion release, we bring you pianist Angela Hewitt in a crystalline reading of Bach’s Keyboard Concerto No. 1, Richard Tognatti conducting the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
