From harp experimentations of Zeena Parkins to New York’s versatile improvising harpist Brandee Younger, and Joanna Newsom’s baroque folk song paintings, the harp is a more than a classical orchestra instrument. Listen to brand new music by improvising harpist Brandee Younger who limns new music, jazz, and pop, from her record, Somewhere Different, along with spiritual jazz by German band Web Web, also featuring Brandee Younger.

Then, listen to music from Mary Lattimore, who plays an amplified harp, sometimes with digital delays. There’s also music featuring Mary Lattimore from the duo North Americans, along with new music from Refuge by Devendra Banhart & Noah Georgeson, also with Mary Lattimore, recorded remotely during the pandemic.

Hear music by cross-coastal composer Danielle Eva Schwab performed by New York harpist and educator Ashley Jackson, as well as John Cage, played on lever harp by harpist Lauren Scott.
