#4536, Music for Cello, and Voice

There's music by cellists and singing cellists for this show, including Guatemalan Mabe Fratti, Brazilian Dom La Nena, Anglo-Malaysian Lucinda Chua, American Maya Beiser, German Anne Müller, and Scotsman Peter Gregson.

Hear recent music by Brazilian-born, French-based Dom La Nena, (aka cellist and singer-songwriter, Dominique Pinto) from her 2021 record Tempo, which combines layers of her voice, her cello, and a few piano parts. Then, listen to music from Mexico City by Guatemalan cellist and singer Mabe Fratti. Also, hear a piece from London-based musician Lucinda Chua which limns the space between ambient music, chamber music, and pop.

There's new music from Peter Gregson, a Scottish cellist and composer who often incorporates electronics, and who has done film soundtracks, music for TV and computer games, in addition to carefully recomposing Bach’s Cello Suites for a five-person ensemble. Listen to "Hidden" from his 2021 record, Patina. Also, hear music from American avant-garde cellist Maya Beiser from her 2016 record, TranceClassical, along with music meant to accompany a samurai warrior into battle from London-based cellist Matt Emery.
