Opening Night at the Philharmonic
Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Don't miss our "Live from Lincoln Center" broadcast of the New York Philharmonic's opening night concert at 8:00 p.m., featuring an all Beethoven/Mozart program with pianists Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman.
We'll get you in the mood beforehand, with commentary from PBS Host Fred Child and other musical selections from the artists on tonight's program.
We'll hear some great recordings from the NY Phil as well, including Mozart's Symphony No. 29 under Erich Leinsdorf; in a nod to this season's programming, pianist Helen Huang joins Kurt Masur for Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto. After the concert, we'll wind down with violinist Itzhak Perlman (who solos with the Phil tomorrow night) in Max Bruch's Second Violin Concerto.
