#4562, From the Soundcheck Podcast: Angélica Negrón, Emile Mosseri

New Sounds | Dec 14, 2022

Listen to Soundcheck Podcast sessions with Puerto Rican composer and multi-instrumentalist Angélica Negrón and pianist, songwriter, and composer of the Minari score, Emile Mosseri.

Behold the Puerto Rican composer/performer/educator Angélica Negrón, who writes tiny and big sounds for chamber ensembles, orchestras, films, plants, robots and drag queens. She is also The Greene Space Artist-In-Residence who hosted/curated El Living Room, a funhouse variety show involving plant and robot instruments. She offers a live performance - triggering sounds via plant art, programmed surface poppers, and hidden computers into a sonic dreamscape. (Originally recorded for the Soundcheck Podcast, October 2021.)

Then, listen to session featuring pianist and songwriter Emile Mosseri, who wrote the moving soundtrack to the family drama film Minari, (about a Korean-American family struggling to achieve the American dream in the 1980’s). He plays some of his Oscar-nominated music for Minari for us at the piano. - Caryn Havlik
