Divertimento and L'histoire du soldat

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Igor Stravinsky's Divertimento was co-written with Samuel Dushkin. Adapted from an earlier ballet, we'll hear tonight from violinist Viktoria Mullova and pianist Bruno Canino. Arranged for violin, piano and clarinet, the L'histoire du soldat suite was inspired by a collection of Russian folk tales by Alexander Afanasiev. Stravinsky dedicated the suite to his colleague Werner Reinhart; we'll hear it tonight from the American Chamber Players.
