John Cage's "String Quartet in Four Parts"

Cage's 1950 work deals with the traditional Indian notions of the nine permanent emotions and the seasonal cycle. The composition is disarmingly simple, comprised of a very small collection of sonorities set to an unwavering rhythmic structure, depicting a season within each movement.
