#4804, Songs for Peace
Hear an adaptation of music by pianist Bill Evans from Scottish classical guitarist Sean Shibe, as played on a black Mexican Fender Stratocaster fed through effects pedals. Then, listen to music from Pueblo singer, songwriter, and flutist Robert Mirabal and the string quartet, ETHEL from their collaborative record, The River, also featuring the voices of Mirabal, his family, and the members of ETHEL.
There’s music by Montréal’s Black Ox Orkestar, who "connect key current issues—from refugees forced to leave their homes, to the return of fascism and exclusionary nationalism—with the legacy of modernist Yiddish poetry and song", (Bandcamp liner notes.) Listen to a melancholic twist on traditional Jewish klezmer music, with vocals mainly sung in Yiddish, in the song, “Perpetual Peace”.
