Listen to music by Pakistani-American composer and synthesist Qasim Naqvi from his recent albums, Endling, and a sequel of sorts - the tone poem, God Docks at Death Harbor. “God Docks”, his first orchestral work, is a transmuting of electronic music and acoustic music and a futuristic imagining of the world in a state of regeneration after the human race has gone extinct. Naqvi said initially, “Though the piece is about our end, the tone is one of hope, for our world getting a second chance.” But, “over time I have felt its sentiment flip – that this music is now about us surviving, being compassionate, and fighting against these tyrannical forces which feel insurmountable.
