Tyondai Braxton's Central Market

Spinning on Air | May 18, 2010

Young composer Tyondai Braxton has created an album of music that inspires visions and stories. "Central Market" is complex, dynamic, fun (but at times menacing), virtuosic, and thrilling. Almost entirely instrumental, the music is performed by the Wordless Music Orchestra and Braxton himself playing electric guitar, whistling, and serving as a choir of kazoos. Host David Garland welcomes Tyondai Braxton to the WNYC Studio to present the album, and talk about the ideas, influences, and processes behind it.
