#1979: Program #1979

New Sounds | May 24, 2010
Hear two responses to J.S. Bach’s famous Chaconne from the Partitia in d minor on this New Sounds program. Christoph Poppen and the Hilliard Ensemble perform the version of the Chaconne based on the research into Bach’s “hidden music” by Helga Thoene. Also, English composer Steve Martland leads a string orchestra in his Chaconne-inspired “Crossing the Border.” Then there’s more music featuring the The Hilliard Ensemble to round out the show, from the ethereal “Officium” with Norwegian sax-man Jan Garbarek.
