New Sounds | May 24, 2010

In January 2002, the third annual New York Guitar Festival/New Sounds Live marathon gave 92nd Street Y audiences a wildly eclectic lineup of guitar styles, with artists from the classical, jazz, and blues guitar worlds as well as performers on an international assortment of stringed instruments. Highlights of that nine-hour extravaganza are featured in this installment of New Sounds, including performances by the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, Alex De Grassi, Ronn McFarlane (in 16th-century European lute pieces and his own compositions), Bill Frisell (joined by Greg Leisz on lap steel guitar).
