Stolen Russian Painting Returned

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

One of two Russian paintings stolen from a New York City museum has curiously been mailed back - in perfect condition.

The director of the Nicholas Roerich Museum, Daniel Entin, says the painting, "Talung Monastery," was sent to the museum in a manila envelope, between two pieces of cardboard. He says the envelope had a return address.

The other stolen piece, a pencil sketch, remains missing. Both pieces were taken during museum hours.
