New York's Unwelcome Trees

It sounds like a nice idea planting one million trees across the five boroughs but some seniors in Jamaica Queens say the Million Trees NYC program hasn't taken the downsides into account.

Council member Leroy Comrie says some seniors in his constituency have gone from zero to five trees on their street, and they feel crowded and worry about being ticketed if they don't clear their sidewalks of falling foliage.

Comrie says the city should've consulted local community boards before doing multiple plantings.

COMERIE: They have plenty of other opportunities to plant with people that are actually asking for trees.

REPORTER: Representatives from Million Trees NYC admit some people aren't used to all the trees, but that the city is committed to maintaining the trees and working with local communities.
