Officers Indicted for Sexual Assault

New York, NY —

Officer Richard Kern is accused of sodomizing Michael Mineo with his baton. Two other officers, Alex Cruz and Andrew Morales, face charges for trying to cover up the assault.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes credited two witnesses. Transit Officer Kevin Maloney and Police Officer Noel Jugraj for talking to the grand jury.

HYNES: It's a very diff thing to be put into that position, that's why he ultimately deserves praise for cooperating. both of them do.

REPORTER: Officer Jugraj was not charged. Hynes says that's because Jugraj did not participate in the sexual assault, and cooperated with the investigation.

Mineo attended the arraignment, and punched the air with his fist when it ended. He says he still suffors from his injuries.
