Parade Balloons Still a Hit

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Kids of all ages enjoyed the eighty-first annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade today. Unlike last year when rain kept spectators away, sunny skies and balmy temperatures drew huge crowds that lined the route from Seventy-Seventh Street and Central Park West to Herald Square.

REPORTER: Musical acts like heartthrobs The Jonas Brothers and Corbin Bleu were the major draw for Loray, Rita, and Norinesa from Long Island. But the teens admitted they still feel affection for the parade's signature giant balloon characters.

NORINESA: Pikachu, and the Pokemon, I don't know all of them. They're all good. I like Snoopy. Yeah. Snoopy.

REPORTER: Balloon characters making their debut this year were Shrek, Super Cute Hello Kitty and Sesame Street's Abby Cadabby.
