Mayor Bloomberg Doesn’t Like Governor Spitzer’s License Plan

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Mayor Bloomberg is continuing to criticize the Governor's plan that would allow immigrants in the country illegally to receive a drivers license.

REPORTER: On WABC this morning, Bloomberg said only citizens and legal immigrants should be given that privilege.

BLOOMBERG: The new plan I said when he came out with the three tiered thing is a step in the right direction and I think the governor should be commended for trying but we still don't think it should be going along these lines.

REPORTER: Bloomberg first voiced his opinion during an interview on CNN yesterday. His stance is a departure from his broader views on immigration. In the past, Mayor Bloomberg has supported granting illegal immigrants citizenship.
