Maloney Calls on Con Ed to Reimburse Businesses for Lost Revenue

Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney is calling on Con Edison to reimburse retail businesses who lost revenue as a result of last month's steam pipe explosion.

REPORTER: Maloney and her staff surveyed seventy-one companies near 41st Street and Lexington Avenue. She says the electric utility is responsible for losses of more than 1 million dollars.

MALONEY: They should be required to make these businesses whole, and sticking individual businesses with the price tag of this disaster is just plain wrong.

REPORTER: Con Ed says it has already reimbursed companies for damaged equipment and spoiled foods, but that it is not responsible for lost business revenue.
