Police Officer’s Union Pledges Fight
New York, NY —
The 3 police officers charged in the Queens fatal shooting of Sean Bell are free on bail, after pleading not guilty. The president of the Detectives Endowment Association Mike Pallidino said the officers all acted in good faith.
REPORTER: He added that none of them intended to kill anyone that night. Pallidino said the charges send a "chilling message" that when it comes to police work, there's no room for errors.
PALLIDINO: And when you're in the street, especially in the city of New York, it's a one shot deal. This is not video game this is life of death. It's not a video game and you just can't press reset if you don't like the way things are turning out.
REPORTER: Pallidino said the union will mount a vigorous defense on behalf of the indicted officers and the entire police department.
