Last Minute Witness at Queens Grand Jury

A last minute witness could change the fate of 5 police officers facing possible indictments in the shooting death of an unarmed queens man. Sean Bell was killed in a barrage of 50 bullets that also wounded two of his friends outside a Queens night club.

REPORTER: The Associated press is reporting the mystery witness testified for about an hour today. The head of the police detectives union has described the witness as a man who works in the area and saw a man fire a gun at police the night of the shooting. Reverend Al Sharpton questioned the witnesses credibility:

SHARPTON: The fact of the matter is that the story as told is not only extraordinarily suspect. It is in fact smells of high heaven.

REPORTER: Sharpton, with Bell's fiancee and shooting victim Trent Benefield by his side, called on the state attorney general to monitor the grand jury process. Attorneys for the victims say earlier witnesses should be called back to respond to the latest testimony.
