New York Investigator to Lead FBI in Michigan

A man who rose through the FBI's ranks to lead criminal investigations in New York has been named head of the bureau in Michigan.

REPORTER: The Detroit News reports that Andrew Arena, a native of suburban Detroit, will take over as special agent in charge of that city's FBI office in February. He'll oversee about 240 agents across the state.

The 44-year-old joined the FBI in 1988 and has served the past three years as special agent in charge of the criminal division in New York. Agents under his charge have investigated high-profile cases including WorldCom, Martha Stewart's conviction and several organized crime families.
