New Yorkers Over-the-Moon for Moon Cakes

They just can't keep them on the shelves. Mooncakes are flying off the shelves in bakeries and grocery stores in Chinatown as people prepare for Friday's lunar holiday, the Moon Festival. Also know as the Mid-Autumn Festival, it's the day that the moon will be at its brightest for the year.

REPORTER: Ruth Lo, a Taiwanese New Yorker, says eating mooncakes is a symbolic part of the holiday.

LO: Um it's for famiy, it's a circle of like family coming together.

REPORTER: All over the world, Chinese people will eat the dense pastries which sometimes contain egg yolks to symbolize a full moon.
