New York, NY —
Former WorldCom accounting executive Betty Vinson has been sentenced to five months in prison for taking part in WorldCom's record $11 billion accounting fraud scheme.
Vinson also was sentenced to five months of house arrest. Vinson pleaded guilty to fraud in October, 2002, and helped the government build its case against former WorldCom CEO Bernard Ebbers.
Last month, a judge sentenced Ebbers to 25 years in prison. A second former WorldCom accounting official, Troy Normand, has been been sentenced to probation.
