NY State Minimum Wage to Rise

New York state's hourly minimum wage will increase from $5.15 to $7.15 following state Senate action that completed an override of Governor Pataki's veto. The measure will be carried out in three phases pushing the minimum wage to 6 dollars an hour on January 1 to $6.75 on January 1, 2006, and to $7.15 at the begininng of 2007. The result will be about a 40-precent raise over the next two years.
