Good-bye to Dubai

He discusses the origins of the "Dubai fantasy" and the problems inherent in its construction and maintenance, Dubai's identity as a world city and the stark realities of its economic recession. He also disccuses illicit enterprises—from human trafficking to arms smuggling—allegedly going on in Dubai. His article "Good-bye to Dubai" is in the summer issue of the New York Review of Books.
