Lazio Living to Fight Another Day?

WNYC News | Sep 22, 2010

A week after losing the Republican primary, former Congressman Rick Lazio continues to consider running for governor -- on the Conservative party ballot line.

Speaking outside Albany, Lazio sounded like he was running, without formally committing one way or the other.

"I believe I am the only candidate that actually has a plan to make New York more competitive and to create the kind of jobs, private sector jobs," Lazio said. "It seems to me we can do a whole lot better than this level of issue-less campaigning.

Lazio's flirtation with a second run comes as a new survey shows Republican nominee Carl Paladino trailing Democrat Andrew Cuomo by just six points. The Quinnipiac poll did not include Lazio as an option -- but another poll expected Thursday does.
