A Week After Charlottesville, Where Do We Stand?

The Takeaway | Aug 18, 2017

After the violence on display last week at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, we're taking a look at the news stories that helped frame the media coverage of where the nation stands after such a pivotal week.

From President Trump's muddled responses on who deserves blame, to his freewheeling press conference in New York, and from White House adviser Steve Bannon unloading his feelings on the press, to a debate about the removal of Confederate monuments across the country, it's clear that issues of race and identity stand at the nexus of America's political divide.

Joining the Takeaway to discuss this week's many developments are Susan Page, Washington Bureau Chief for USA Today, and New York Daily News columnist Shaun King.

This segment is hosted by Todd Zwillich.
