Editor and writer Terry McDonell has edited several iconic magazines including Rolling Stone, Esquire and Sports Illustrated. In his memoir, The Accidental Life: An Editor’s Notes on Writing and Writers, he offers an inside look at an editor’s job in journalism during the 1970s and 80s, and includes untold stories about the people and personalities he’s known and worked with, from  Hunter S. Thompson, to David Carr and Steve Jobs.
