Alejandro Escovedo – "Bury Me" (Weekly Music Roundup)

Alejandro Escovedo has long been known as one of Austin, Texas’s leading singer/songwriters, and an activist for immigrants’ rights. In March he’ll release Echo Dancing, in which he remakes songs from his long and varied career. The new single is a gritty, bluesy take on “Bury Me,” a song he wrote in the 90s. “If I should die before I turn 43,” he sings, “Bury me beneath the justice tree.” He has instructions for various other ages too, all of which the now-73-year-old Escovedo has long since passed. Alejandro Escovedo's new version of “Bury Me”  is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
