The new play, “Morning Sun,” tells the story of three generations of women all living in Greenwich Village. Four-time Emmy award winner Edie Falco, who plays Charlotte, and Tony nominee Marin Ireland, who plays her daughter, join us to discuss the show, which is running at City Center Theater through December 19th.

[REBROADCAST FROM September 8, 2021] In light of the ongoing Supreme Court arguments over the future of abortion rights in the United States, we re-air our conversation with Dr. Diana Greene Foster, professor at the University of California San Francisco, and the leader of the Turnaway Study, a nationwide project which spends years following women who sought an abortion. The study examines the long-term effects of either having an abortion or being turned away. Foster joins us to discuss her research and her book, The Turnaway Study: Ten Years, a Thousand Women, and the Consequences of Having—or Being Denied—an Abortion.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in an abortion rights case from Mississippi that could have widespread ramifications, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Shefali Luthra, healthcare reporter for the non-profit news organization The 19th, joins to discuss what we heard in the arguments, what it means for reproductive health, and takes calls from listeners with a stake in the outcome of the case. 

We air the third part of our latest installment of Full Bio. Music biographer Bob Spitz joins us to discuss his latest work, a deep dive into one of the most influential bands in rock history: Led Zeppelin. The book is titled Led Zeppelin: the BiographyToday we discuss the band's business practices and its darker side, including their lavish lifestylesdrug use, and the predatory practices of some band members. 

Charles R. Smith, author of a new children's book, Song for Jimi: The Story of Guitar Legend Jimi Hendrix, speaks with us about why he wanted to make Hendrix's story and music understandable to a young audience. Plus, we listen to some classic Jimi Hendrix tracks Smith used as inspiration for the book.
