First Months of COVID in NYC, Surviving Abuse in the Church, Full Bio: Led Zeppelin, WBCN Documentary
Now more than two years into the pandemic, director Matthew Heineman takes us back to the beginning in his new documentary “The First Wave.” Heineman chronicles the first four months of COVID-19 with exclusive access into a New York City hospital, documenting the lives of its doctors, nurses, and patients. The film is now screening in select theaters.
The new documentary "Procession" follows six men in the Kanas City area, all of whom survived sexual abuse within the Catholic church. The film follows the survivors as they navigate their trauma through drama therapy, recreating and performing one another's experiences in a series of short films in an attempt to seek the closure that the church has denied them. Director Robert Greene joins to discuss.
We air the fourth and final part of our latest installment of Full Bio. Music biographer Bob Spitz joins us to discuss his latest work, a deep dive into one of the most influential bands in rock history: Led Zeppelin. Today we hear about the band's final days and its legacy. The book is titled Led Zeppelin: the Biography.
The documentary, "WBCN and The American Revolution," and its new companion book tell the story of Boston’s legendary radio station, which established itself through coverage of the musical, political, and cultural movements of the late 60s and 70s. Director and former WBCN staffer Bill Lichtenstein joins us to discuss the film, which airs tonight, December 3, at 9 PM on WNET.
