Dating in the New Year, 2022 Wedding Boom, Xochitl Gonzalez's Debut Book, 'Don't Look Up,' TV You Might Have Missed

With a new year beginning, maybe you're hoping to revamp your love life, put yourself back out there, and start dating... or maybe the year has come with a breakup or divorce. Whatever your relationship status, dating experts and hosts of the Date/able podcast Yue Xu and Julie Krafchick are here to help! As a part of our "Taking Care of You in 2022" series, Xu and Krafchick will take calls from listeners and share some of the dating tips and tricks they've learned as a former dating coach and a meet-up app technologist, respectively.

New Years is a time for celebrating the end and looking forward to the new with friends and family. But it's also a time for another thing: proposals. Charanna Alexander, weddings editor for the New York Times, joins us to discuss the ever-changing landscape of relationships and the new "Mini-Vow" submission guide for the paper. Plus, she'll take your calls on what to expect for the expected wedding boom in 2022.

A new debut novel tells the story of a Nuyorican wedding planner whose life changes when her absent mother, a former member of the Young Lords who turned radical, comes back into the picture. Author Xochitl Gonzalez, herself a former New York City wedding planner, joins us to discuss her first novel Olga Dies Dreaming, as part of our series "2022 Debuts."

"Don't Look Up," the latest film from writer and director Adam McKay, stars Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as two scientists struggling to convince the world that a giant comet is heading towards earth. Starring alongside the two leads are some of the biggest names in Hollywood, from Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, and Jonah Hill, to Tyler Perry and Timothée Chalamet. McKay, who is also an executive producer of "Succession," joins us to discuss the film, streaming now on Netflix.

Our resident TV expert, Vulture staff writer Kathryn VanArendonk, comes on the show to talk the TV we may have missed, or that went under the radar, in 2021. Plus we take calls on your picks for the underrated and under-watched shows of the last year.
