American Composers Orchestra Plays Kaki King at Carnegie Hall Zankel Hall
Daniela Candillari, Conductor
March 16. 7:30PM. $49-$59
Kaki King is a different kind of Guitar Hero: yes, she’s a virtuoso player – but she’s also a restless and creative composer who’s done a theater piece based on the instrument’s body, worked with string quartet, and modified one of her many guitars to sound like a hammered dulcimer. Now, several of her pieces have been arranged for orchestra by D. J. Sparr, with accompanying immersive video projections. The American Composers Orchestra, conducted by Daniela Candillari, plays the world premieres and New York premiere works by Kaki King, Ellen Reid, Carlos Bandera, as well as music by Carlos Simon as part of their program on March 16 at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall.
Kaki King performs remotely for the Soundcheck Podcast in 2020:
