Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has been in Washington this week meeting with members of Congress after revelations that accounts linked to Russia helped spread fake content on the site in the buildup to the 2016 election.
"Things happened on our platform in this election that should not have happened, especially and very troubling, foreign interference in a democratic election," Sandberg said at an event in Washington on Thursday.Â
Facebook has already agreed to turn over more than 3,000 ads bought by accounts linked to Russia to Congress, which lawmakers now say they plan to make public, and Sandberg said that the company is cooperating with congressional requests for additional internal Facebook data.
