Anthrax, Ebola, Zika and Future Emerging Epidemics

The Leonard Lopate Show | May 23, 2016

For over 20 years at the Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Ali S. Khan, who served as the director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (PHPR), investigated infectious diseases and threats to health around the world. In his new book, The Next Pandemic: On the Front Lines Against Humankind’s Gravest Dangers, he describes his own experiences, how well we’ve responded to some diseases, and what we could face in the future. He offers a firsthand account of disasters like anthrax, bird flu, among others, and tells us what we can do about emerging epidemics such as Ebola, SARS and Zika.
