Over the years, the band Antibalas has become a reliable purveyor of sweaty, horn-heavy dance music in the tradition of the great 20th century Nigerian bandleader Fela Kuti. That style, known as Afrobeat, combines deep West African grooves with the sounds of American funk and jazz, and Antibalas, whose name means “bulletproof,” has been playing it here in New York since the turn of the century, and along the way the horn players were in the pit band of the Broadway musical Fela! and on Bruno Mars massive hit “Uptown Funk.” Antibalas plays Nov. 15 at Brooklyn Bowl.
