Ask John Schaefer Anything (About Music)

By most anyone’s standards, John Schaefer is a busy person. Every morning, he previews an upcoming concert for the Gig Alert on WNYC’s Morning Edition. Every evening, he hosts two WNYC music shows, Soundcheck and New Sounds. He pops up on The Takeaway and various New York City concert stages to chat about music. I am told that he enjoys playing soccer and that he eats food for purposes of sustenance.

Yes, by anyone’s standards, he is busy. However, I am not just anyone. I am the captain of the U.S.S. Soundcheck, and I think John Schaefer can work harder.

Today, I am proud to announce Soundcheck’s new strategic initiative: Ask John Schaefer Anything (About Music).

Help me make John a little busier. Or a lot busier. Ask him anything you want, as long as it’s within the realm of music. Don’t get him started about single-malt scotch, home improvement, or “Arsenal,” which my staff informs me is a gang of young men who exercise in front of thousands of people a couple of times per week.

• Puzzlers (i.e. you can try to stump him).
