The Senegalese singer Baaba Maal has long been considered one of the great voices on the world music circuit, but he gained a new level of popularity when he appeared on the soundtrack to the film Black Panther. Tonight, he leaves Wakanda behind to tell stories and sing songs about the real Africa, as part of the Met’s new exhibit Sahel: Art and Empire on the Shores of the Sahara. Baaba Maal plays an acoustic set on Mon., March 9, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
