Balancing Hope and Realism in Cancer Prognosis

Studies show cancer patients retain less than half of the information the doctor gives them in a prognosis. 

Dr. Philip Bialer, psychiatrist at Memorial Sloan Kettering and the interim director of COMSKIL, the communications skills research and training lab, discusses the accuracy of prognoses, and explains how doctors can do a better job communicating prognosis to patients.
