Hate crimes. Harassment. Indignities. Being Asian in 2021

WNYC News | Mar 13, 2021

When she was a kid growing up in L.A., Cathy Park Hong, the author of the highly-acclaimed "Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning" recalls witnessing her Korean-American grandmother get 'kicked down' by 'some 11-year-old white kid.'

Now she lives in Brooklyn and she's watching as Asian Americans endure a new wave of violence. Often, she said, they are elderly or vulnerable, and they remain forgotten.

"How many victims of Asian hate crimes do you remember? Do you know?" asked Hong. "Like, I can't besides Vincent Chin. I don't think a single American can think of even two people."
