Beirut – “So Many Plans” (Weekly Music Roundup)

Fans of the indie rock band Beirut know that the group’s founder and singer, Zach Condon, is a world traveler. Over the years, the band has incorporated the sounds of Balkan brass music, French chanson, and regional Mexican styles. Condon’s most recent musical journey was to the island of Hadsel, in the north of Norway, where he spent time in a cabin in a world where the sun never got above the horizon. He also spent time in the local church, playing its organ, and that became the primary sonic element in the upcoming Beirut record, Hadsel. The new album isn’t out till November but this single, “So Many Plans”, is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
