The Blind Boys of Alabama at City Winery
Sept. 17. 8PM. $40-68.

The Blind Boys of Alabama aren’t a band – they’re an institution. The group began in 1939, and over the years the original five singers have passed away and others have come in, most of them visually impaired, and seamlessly blended their voices into that classic gospel sound. Over the years the Blind Boys of Alabama have collaborated with Prince, Lou Reed, and a host of others. And you may know their version of the song “Down In The Hole” which was used as the theme for the first season of the TV series The Wire. The Blind Boys of Alabama will be here in New York on Sept. 17 to play at City Winery.
