Bonny Light Horseman – "Jane Jane" (Weekly Music Roundup)

Anaïs Mitchell wrote Hadestown, first as a collection of songs and eventually as a Tony winning Broadway musical. Now, she’s exploring old folk songs from both sides of the Atlantic in a trio calling itself Bonny Light Horseman (with Fruit Bats' Eric D. Johnson and The National and Bob Weir collaborator Josh Kaufman.) The band name is actually from an old folk song. Their debut album comes out in January 2020, but they’ve just released a spellbinding version of an old counting song called "Jane Jane," like "The Twelve Days of Christmas."

The Southern traditional "Jane Jane" is one of the new mystical semi-trad folk jams by all-star trio Bonny Light Horseman, and it's part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
