The Brooklyn Museum & Black Power, Lucky Cheng's
Curator, Ashley James and museum director, Anne Pasternak, join us to discuss a new exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum titled, “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power.” The show highlights a wide range of black artistic practices from 1963 to 1983. Nationally, black artists worked in communities, in collectives, and individually to create work ranging from figurative and abstract painting, prints, and photography, to assemblage, sculpture, and performance.
Long-running drag restaurant and cabaret, Lucky Cheng’s, (at 18:30) is celebrating its 25th anniversary on October 18. The evening’s MC, Paulina Princess of Power, and Josephine Jason, house DJ and co-owner of Lucky Cheng’s join us to discuss Lucky Cheng's history and the anniversary.
