Brooklyn Rider via National Sawdust (Live Stream)
Thurs., Aug. 27, 6PM EDT via National Sawdust

The members of the string quartet Brooklyn Rider originally met when they were part of the famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble (now under the Artistic Direction of Rhiannon Giddens!) They’ve made a substantial reputation for themselves as musical travelers, working with musicians from Japan, Iran, Ireland, Mexico and beyond. They’ve proven they can play Beethoven and Debussy, but they’re best known for championing contemporary composers, like Evan Ziporyn, Reena Esmail, Du Yun, and Tyondai Braxton. On Thurs., Aug. 27, Brooklyn Rider present works that deal with the challenges and the opportunities of a forced isolation, in a live-streamed concert from National Sawdust.
