Richard McGregor joins us to discuss his book, Asia's Reckoning: China, Japan, and the Fate of U.S. Power in the Pacific Century. McGregor examines China’s rise as an international superpower, and looks at the role that the United States plays in the increasingly toxic relationship between China and Japan.

Richard McGregor will appear in conversation with Ian Buruma, editor of The New York Review of Books, and Susan Shirk, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State during the Clinton administration at Asia Society (725 Park Ave. between 70 & 71st) on Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Orville Schell, Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at Asia Society, will moderate the event.
