#3233: Classical Meets Electronica

New Sounds | Jun 24, 2014

For this New Sounds, there’s music at the juncture of composed music, ambient and modern electronica, including a work by Annie Gosfield, for bits and pieces of metal. From her “Flying Sparks And Heavy Machinery” release, we’ll hear driving machine samples, layers of ambient noise, crashing metal and electronic blips assembled into a nearly pulsing dance-y musical journey through a working factory.

Also, listen to minimal hypnotic music by composer/professor (theory and history of sound) Anthony Moore and composer/artist Alexis Georgopoulos, who goes by “Arp.” Plus, Icelandic composer/producer Valgeir Sigurðsson's classical, rock, and folk-steeped blend of cinematic music, something by Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto, Missy Mazzoli and her band Victoire, and more.
