The Irish singer Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson records under the stage name CMAT (which is simply her initials). Her debut LP If My Wife New I’d Be Dead was a hit in Ireland in 2022 and last year she followed up with a sophomore effort called Crazymad, For Me. The first thing you notice about CMAT is her voice – brassy, clarion singing that recalls Patsy Cline; then there’s the production – she favors a big, orchestral sound reminiscent of the pop music of the 60s. The Irish singer CMAT plays on April 9 at Music Hall of Williamsburg and on April 10 at Bowery Ballroom.
